A motor accident in Geneken, Wedabo District, Grand Kru County, has left at least six passengers severely injured.
The driver lost control of a faulty vehicle and veered off the road, but claimed he has no knowledge of how the crash occurred.
The incident, which involved a white pick-up truck transporting goods and passengers, was first reported by motorcyclists to the Trehn District Police Commander early Saturday, March 21, in the morning hour.
A response team from the Liberia National Police (LNP), headed by Fedisco D. Chea, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the driver, Emanuel Tamba, popularly known as “Falo,” who stated that he was en route to Barclayville when the vehicle somersaulted.
Tamba denied having prior knowledge about how the crash happened. Meanwhile, six passengers who sustained injuries, were rushed to nearby health facilities.
They were initially taken to a health facility in Grand Kru County, with four later transferred to the J.J. Dossen Hospital in Sanoe County for further treatment.
Police say they have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the cause of the accident, as concerns grow over road safety and the transportation of passengers alongside heavy goods in the county.
