With funding from the World Bank, the government has constructed several market buildings in Nmba County.
The projects are due for dedication anytime soon.
The modern markets are located in Ganta, Flumpa, Karnwee, Saclepea and Tappita, respectively.
The construction cost US$967,297.02.
During a recent inspection of the Saclepea project, Agriculture Minister, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, expressed gratitude to the marketers for fully cooperating with the construction team during the execution of the project.
“This market is for you, the people. We are grateful for your cooperation. This is the government way of empowering you to sell your goods in a clean environment, and also at night where you can have visibility from nearby solar powers.”
The modern markets consist a warehouse, flush toilets and solar powers that produce light during night hours.
Dr. Nueth meanwhile, announced that the projects would be dedicated anytime this month to enhance marketers’ capacity, while providing hygienic environment for their livelihood.
Also, the dedicatory ceremony of the markets will coincide with the dedication of a modern Vegetable Cold Room, valued US$317,681.25.
The cold storage is located in Whelenla, District #1, Bain in Ganta, the commercial hub of the county.
The Ministry of Agriculture is empowering farmers to produce rice on large scale by giving farmers seed rice, tools, technical assistance and cash.
