Some members of the governing Unity Party have reacted sharply to a recent press conference held by Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Secretary General, Jefferson Koijee, in which he tries to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Deputy Police Inspector General Col. Nelson Freeman. The CDC Chief Scribe is reported to have claimed that Col. Freeman is unfit for the position he is currently holding and must therefore be dismissed with immediate effect. But reacting angrily to the CDC SG statement, some Unity Party Partisans described the Former Mayor of Monrovia allegation as being vindictive, baseless, out of order and only intended to besmear the image of one of Liberia’s highly trained Police Officer. The UP supporters claimed that contrary to the CDC Official’s statement, Col. Freeman who underwent series of training conducted by the United Nations (UN), has helped to improve the image of the Liberian Police Force in several ways, and that he is the right man to lead the force operation as Deputy Police Inspector General for operation. One UPist identified as Francis Koffa, who resides in Central Monrovia said SG Koijee is behaving in said manner because he is afraid of his pending arrest by Col. Nelson Freeman for allegedly masterminding the mysterious killings and misdirection of millions of dollars from government coffers during the corrupt regime of former President George Weah. Koffa, wondered why the CDC Secretary General is not behind bar by now for crimes he allegedly committed during his time in government, in which Liberians lives were lost.
Another UPist, Jonathan Sayou noted that Former Mayor Koijee is carrying on his war of character assassination against prominent Liberians simply because President Joseph Nyumah Boakai is lenient with people that are considered common criminals. He then called on the government to move swiftly and arrest the CDC SG and his Cohorts who are using the CDC Headquarters as a Sanctuary for criminal gangs that are unleashing hell on residents of Monrovia on a daily basis. Augustine Hinneh, a resident of Gardnersville Township said that the CDC SG has no moral to call for the removal of a senior government official that is highly respected in the country for his role in fighting crime. Seminar condemnation of Jefferson Koijee Press Conference was issued by none partisans of the Unity Party describing him as an irrelevant character bend on destabilizing the country through hit messages.
