UP Youth Chair Challenged!!

By Domingo Dargbeh

The Director of the Witness Protection Agency (WPA), Attorney Maxwell Grigbsy, has publicly criticized Unity Party Youth Chairperson, Togar Melvin Cephas, and challenged him to retract his criticism.

Grigsby sharply rebuked recent calls for the dismissal of the Justice Minister, Oswald Tweh.

His comments were made when he appeared on the Punch Radio Breakfast Show in Monrovia on Wednesday, May, 27, 2026.

Atty. Grigbsy said, Cephas lacks any moral authority to question the Cllr. Tweh’s performance, given his own poorly performed role at the National Transit Authority (NTA).

Grigbsy’s defense of Tweh highlighted Cephas’s failure to effectively utilize public transportation resources for the benefit of citizens.

“A youth chairperson, who sits at the NTA, and transfers public transportation to private institutions for profit, yet fails to maximize that very transportation to benefit the citizens, has no moral right to question Mr. Tweh.”

The exchange follows Cephas’s public criticism of Mr. Tweh, suggesting that his leadership is inadequate, and above all, to call for the removal of sitting minister.

Grigbsy meanwhile, questioned the effectiveness of Cephas’s role in promoting public transport initiatives, while the government continues to heavily invest in the sector despite challenging economic conditions.

He spoke of the high cost of transportation, stating: “How have you used transportation to score for the government when the very government has invested in public transportation despite the severe economic conditions, yet transportation remains very expensive.

“When Senator Saah Joseph provided the very transport service to the public, everybody clapped for him.”

Grigbsy urged current officials to focus on productive measures rather than indulge in “political rhetoric.”

His passionate defense underscores the complexities facing government officials in their efforts to navigate public expectations and political pressures.

He therefore called on Cephas to prioritize effective service delivery over political maneuvering: “Focus on using public transport to score for the government, and stop being too political and less proactive in your job.”
