Dn News-Liberia on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, reported that some employees at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), have demanded the dismissal of those suspected of being partisans of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
Those MCC employees that are demanding the dismissal of others from the entity are being labelled as “devotees of governing Unity Party (UP).”
Henceforth, one report said, in view of their demand, the partisans have reportedly started a ‘go-slow action’ until their demand are answered.
Sources say the workers held a protest on Monday, September 15, 2025, as they called for the removal or replacement of several MCC staff members, who they believed supported the CDC during the past six years.
“The CDC people were here with the then City Mayor, Jefferson Tamba Koijee. They spoiled the entire system to the extent that the bathrooms became filthy and some none-functional. The computers and other offices badly opened,” some of the protestors were quoted as telling the press.
The UP ‘supporters’ said, during the regime of the CDC-led government, CDCians were stationed in top positions, thereby leaving those perceived as coming from the opposition block.
Against this backdrop, the UP partisans believe this trend should not continue now that the latter is in power.
There are reports of City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa’s refusal to honor the UP partisans request.
“Mr. Siafa,” a source said, had told the UP stanch supporters: “CDC members or whatever you called them are also Liberians. As long as they are qualified, competent and able to do the job, they should be allowed to work.”
The jobs in question include directors, managers, supervisors, etc.
