Universal Peace Federation Liberia’s Chapter Ends National Peace Series By: Julius Konton

The Universal Peace Federation-Liberia Chapter has ended a one- day National Peace Lecture Series. Held at the auditorium of the University of Liberia, the series was among other things, meant to educate and  to inspire  the youths and citizenry to up hold peace as a means of nation building and development. Serving as one of the lecturers was  Amb. Gerald Coleman, who encouraged the youthful population to see the need to preach the doctrine of peace in their various communities. Also speaking at the forum was Amb. John Ballout; he hailed the organizers for such meaningful initiative. Amb. Ballout who highlighted the five principles of peace to the new incoming Ambassadors for Peace also reminded   them that peace begins with themselves. At the same time, the President of UPF Liberia Chapter, Dr. Roosevelt G.Jayjay, cautioned all Ambassadors to be steadfast in their peace messages in order to help  unite all Liberians. He encouraged them to work with passion and to ensure that their contributions to the larger society make a transformative impact on the lives of the people.  His statement was buttressed by the Secretary General of UPF-Liberia’s Chapter,  Amb. McCarty G.  Teayeh. He challenged the new ambassadors to see their role and responsibilities to peace initiatives, as key to national development.  Amb. Teayeh also urged the new ambassadors to work hard and set good examples wherever to go and work especially in their homes and communities.  The forum with focus on peace as a major pillar to national development initiative, brought together stakeholders ranging from academicians, students, professors , NGO leaders, Government officials , current and former, Ambassadors  for peace among others. The informative and educative Peace Lecture forum ended with thirteen new Ambassadors who received certificates and were commissioned respectively. Those certificated and Commissioned as new Ambassadors for peace include:  Amb  Prof.Sekou W Konneh,   Amb. John Y. Tokpa, Amb . Samuel F.Argbason , Amb.Teddy E. Seyon, Amb.Charlene Abijah Sevee. Amb. Pitman T. Clement and Amb. Samuel ASA Cheneken Others are: Amb. Boakai M.Kamara, Amb.Bettina B. Zeon, Amb. Leona Y. Gono, Amb. Saydah Williamson Taylor,  Amb. Alfreda BS Tozay, and Amb. George Ayea Kamwie. Meanwhile, as they go out into the larger society to help contribute to peace related initiatives, the new Ambassadors for peace promised to make an impact in the society through their works and messages of peace to all. They promised to use unity and togetherness as well as other meaningful initiatives as driven forces in their respective peace endeavors.
