Two Drug Peddlers Convicted

-Get Eight Months’ Prison Sentence

The Kanweaken City Magisterial Court in River Gee County has sentenced two men to eight months imprisonment each after finding them guilty on drug-related charges.

The defendants, identified as Alex Gbollie and Kessele Choloply, were convicted on Friday, May 15, 2026, following a trial in which prosecutors presented evidence against them.

According to court sources, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), working with the Ministry of Justice and the Republic of Liberia, submitted testimonies and physical evidence that the court deemed credible.

The case stemmed from an arrest carried out by LDEA officers in River Gee County. Officials said Gbollie and Choloply were apprehended with marijuana and kush in their possession at the time of arrest.

Immediately after the ruling was handed down, the two men were escorted to the Fish Town Central Prison to begin serving their sentences.

LDEA Commander Bill M. Cooper said the court’s decision reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to enforce the law and hold offenders accountable.

“The judgment reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability through the judicial process,” Cooper stated.

The conviction is part of broader enforcement activities by the LDEA in southeastern Liberia aimed at curbing the sale and possession of illegal narcotics.
