Tweah, Others In Court Today

Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and other co-defendants are expected to appear in curt today, February 24 to answer to their charges.

Henceforth, the Supreme Court has forwarded the case of Tweah and other defendants to Criminal Court ‘C’ for full litigation.

The decision followed the Court’s ruling on February 12, 2026, which denied Tweah’s petition to prevent his prosecution.

Tweah, along with co-defendants Nyeanti Tuan, Stanley Ford, Moses Cooper and Jefferson Karmoh, were indicted for reportedly embezzling (stealing, eating) US$6 million and L$1 billion.

In defense, lawyer for the accused individuals, Arthur Johnson, claimed that the funds in question were used for “national security purposes,” granting his clients immunity from prosecution under Article 61 of the 1986 Constitution.

However, Supreme Court rejected this argument, stating that only the president enjoys such immunity, not his deputies.
