Police in Bong County have arrested and charged three young men in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident that occurred in Gbarnga, authorities confirmed.
The suspects are Robert Nuetah, 19; Dennis Tokpah, 25; and Daniel Garkpor, 21. They are currently being held at the Gbarnga Central Police Station, pending court proceedings.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Mr. James Kartoe, Commander of the Crime Services Division (CSD) of the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment, said the suspects were formally charged with Armed Robbery and Theft of Property following a police investigation.
He explained that the incident reportedly took place late on the night of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and was brought to police attention after a female victim filed a complaint.
According to police, the victim stated that she was attacked while walking home after visiting a local entertainment center known as “Place to Be Night Club” in Gbarnga.
Investigators alleged that the suspects confronted the woman and threatened her with knives before forcibly taking her mobile phone and other personal belongings. The suspects then fled the scene, the police report indicated.
Commander Kartoe said swift investigative action led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the three individuals, who were later charged based on evidence gathered during preliminary investigations.
He further noted that the Liberia National Police in Bong County is taking steps to improve security in response to growing concerns about armed robbery and related crimes in the area.
According to him, County Police Commander William W. Johnson is expected to increase police presence in identified hotspots, particularly during nighttime hours, as part of ongoing efforts to deter criminal activity and protect residents.
The suspects are expected to appear before court where they will respond to the charges leveled against them.
Authorities said investigations remain in progress as they seek to establish whether other individuals may be linked to the incident.
Meanwhile, police have urged residents of Gbarnga and surrounding communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to help curb rising street crimes in the county.
