A 45-year-old woman Mercy Kerkulah, has blamed the CB Dunbar Hospital in Gbarnga, Bong County, for her worsening health condition.
From her sickbed in Zeanzue Town, District #6, Bong County, Madam Kerkulah lamented that the complications developed after a surgical procedure at the C.B. Dunbar Hospital in May 2025.
“Since then, I have experienced severe health complications.”
Madam Kerkulah also said, since she underwent the surgery at the C.B. Dunbar Hospital on May 4, 2025, during which time she delivered a baby, and two months after the procedure, she had suffered severe health complications; a situation that later worsened in July, 2025.
She further disclosed that due to her deteriorating condition, she revisited the hospital to seek further medical attention, but was informed by health workers that fluid left in her body following the surgery, which has caused her stomach to enlarge significantly.
Madam Kerkulah said, she is currently feeling intense pain and serious physical distress, explaining further that her abdomen has swollen to the point that she can barely breathe normally. She said the condition has also made it extremely difficult for her to eat, use the restroom, and to breathe properly.
“I am suffering from lots of pains, and my stomach has grown so big that I cannot breathe properly or eat.” When contacted for clarification, the administration of C.B. Dunbar Hospital, Enoch Morris, confirmed that Madam Kerkulah had sought medical care at the facility.
Mr. Morris acknowledged that Madam Kerkulah visited the hospital, but declined to provide further medical details regarding her case, clarifying that such information falls under the authority and supervision of the medical director, who was not in the office at the time of the interview. “The patient came to the hospital for treatment on the date mentioned, but detailed medical information about her condition can only be disclosed by the medical director,” Morris said. Mercy Kerkulah has meanwhile, appealed for urgent medical assistance as her condition continues to deteriorate.
Family members and residents of Zeanzue Town have also expressed concern about her worsening health.
They have also called on well-meaning Liberians and citizens for immediate intervention to save her life.
