A countywide academic intervention to strengthen student performance ahead of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has successfully concluded in Grand Kru County.
The event drew participation from more than 500 senior students from over six high schools.
The two-day tutorial program, organized by the National WASSCE Tutorial Service, under the Ministry of Education (MoE), and implemented by Prepare for Youth, was held at Barclayville Central High School from May 18–19.
The initiative brought together candidates from J. J. Dickson United Methodist High School, P. G. Wollor High School, Samford Denise High School, Buah Central High School, Sasstown High School, and Barclayville Central High School in a targeted effort to improve examination readiness.
Unlike regular classroom instruction, facilitators focused on examination techniques, time management, and strategies to avoid making common mistakes that have historically affected student performance in the WASSCE.
Dennis Nimely said, the program was designed to complement school-based learning by strengthening students’ ability to approach standardized testing with confidence and skill.
Nimely spoke of specialists being assigned to the exercise covered all nine WASSCE subject areas.
He ensured that students received focused guidance tailored to examination demands.
Participants were also encouraged to remain disciplined and consistent in their final weeks of preparation, while parents and teachers were urged to reinforce academic support at the community level.
At the close of the program on May 19, organizers expressed optimism that the intervention would contribute to improved performance outcomes for candidates in the county in the upcoming examinations.
