In a shocking turn of events, the national headquarters of the Solidarity for Trust and A New Day (STAND) was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night, December 10.

Thanks for the quick intervention of firefighters from the Liberia National Fire Service, who arrived in time and save further spread.

The incident happened with six days to the group anticipated planned protest on Wednesday, December 17.

The blaze, which gutted just a portion of the building, has raised concerns and suspicions, particularly among the group’s leadership.

Mulba K. Morlu, the leader of the protest, has dismissed claims that the fire was due to an electrical malfunction.

Instead, Morlu has alleged that the incident was a deliberate act of arson orchestrated by individuals affiliated with the current administration.

Onlookers attributed the disaster to the work of an insider as an attempt to solicit money from ‘sympathizers.’

“This is a clear attempt to intimidate us and derail our movement,” Morlu stated, expressing his fears that the fire was a calculated effort to suppress dissent ahead of the upcoming demonstration.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the fire, local authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the blaze. Investigations are reportedly underway, but details remain low-cut.

The timing of the incident has only fueled speculation about the motives behind it, with many supporters of STAND rallying around Morlu’s claims of ‘political sabotage.’

The planned protest on December 17, has garnered significant attention, as citizens prepare to voice their concerns over various social and economic issues plaguing the nation.

The fire at the STAND headquarters adds a layer of urgency and tension to the upcoming event, as activists rally support in the face of adversity.

As the investigation unfolds, both supporters and critics of the current administration are closely watching the developments.

The incident has sparked a wave of discussions on the state of political freedom and expression, with many calling for accountability and transparency from government officials.

Morlu assured the public that STAND remains resolute in its commitment to push forward with the protest, asserting that they will not be intimidated by acts of violence or intimidation.

As the date approaches, the nation holds its breath, awaiting the outcome of both the protests and the investigation into the fire that has shaken the very foundation of the movement.
