The Acting secretary general of the Civil Society Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), has resigned his post.

George S. Tengbeh said, his decision aimed to renew his commitment in serving community, vulnerable citizens through the Liberia Labour and Governance Alliance (LILGA).

LILGA now bears an expanding docket of critical cases, particularly in child labour, trafficking, and abuse.

In his communication to STAND Chairman, Morluba Morlu, Tengbeh said, his transition is to enable him devote a full time, energy, and capacity to address critical issues within the LILGA, and recognize that ineffective or inactive service benefits no institution nor public cause.

“Let no one misunderstand: I remain steadfast in my belief in peaceful criticism, constructive dialogue, and protest as essential tools for national liberation and democratic resilience. I will continue to champion justice, equity, and human dignity from this new front,” Tengbeh added.

He said since the establishment of STAND in February, 2024, he has stood for the oppressed, challenged injustice, and upheld the constitutional rights of all Liberians through peaceful civic action and civic education.

It can be recalled in 2025, STAND organized the “Enough is Enough” nationwide protest, which brought some citizens into the streets talkng about the “inalienable rights of freedom of expression, human rights, and meaningful socio-economic reforms.”

Tengbeh said, STAND has lifted the voices of young people, workers, and ordinary citizens, empowering them to participate actively in governance and advocate for reforms that uplifted all Liberians.
