Tragedy struck Sargant Kollie Town (SKT) in Bong County on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025.

The incident came about when an identified man reportedly died shortly after he allegedly consumed a dangerous substance locally known as “Spark and Die.”

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the growing menace of lethal drugs infiltrating rural areas.

Eyewitnesses reported that the victim collapsed almost immediately after reportedly taking the substance.

Residents rushed to his aid, but he could not survive despite frantic efforts to revive him.

The harrowing scene drew dozens of onlookers, many of whom, expressed shock over the increasing circulation of toxic substances among the youthful population in the district.

Authorities, including police and health workers, arrived at the scene to conduct preliminary investigations.

His remains have been transported to a nearby health facility for further examination, while the identity of the deceased was not established up to press time last night around 10: p.m.

While investigations ongoing,

community members have raised urgent concerns about the unchecked distribution of the drugs.

They feared the treat the proliferation of illegal drugs poses to the lives of youths and vulnerable residents.

“This is alarming. Our community cannot continue to face such deadly substances without immediate action,” a local resident said.
