Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, Jr., who leads the country’s delegation at the ECOWAS Parliament, has addressed the regional body regarding the recent conflicts within Liberia’s House of Representatives.
In his communication, Snowe confirmed that the disputes have been peacefully and legally resolved.
The tensions in the legislative body garnered widespread attention, raising concerns over the stability of governance in the country. However, the situation has since normalized with the election of a new Speaker, Richard Koon. This pivotal change is expected to foster a more cooperative and productive environment within the House.
Senator Snowe’s letter to ECOWAS highlights the commitment of the country’s political leadership to uphold democratic principles and ensure the smooth functioning of national institutions.
“The recent disputes, which could have threatened our legislative processes, have been effectively managed, demonstrating our dedication to peace and governance,” he stated.
The election of Speaker Richard Koon marks a new chapter for the HoR as it seeks to address key issues facing the country and work towards national development.
Meanwhile, according to the release, the ECOWAS community has expressed its support for the country’s political developments, emphasizing the importance of stability in the region.
