Former Montserrado County District #2 Representative, Jimmy Smith, has launched a sweltering attack on Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph.
Smith accused Sen. Joseph of betrayal, disloyalty, and political hypocrisy over recent comments he (Joseph) made against the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
At a news conference over the weekend from his Jacob Town residence, Smith expressed deep anger and disappointment, describing Joseph as a man who, “heavily benefited” from the CDC.
“I am one person so badly disappointed that a Saah Joseph of all persons, now turned around, and publicly attacked the same institution that lifted him into power. I am surprised by his betrayal having milked the CDC for several years,” Smith said.
He expressed the hope that the party had learned enough from its past actions.
“It was people like Saah Joseph, a plank seller that undermined us within the CDC.”
Smith’s comments come in the wake of Sen. Joseph explosive remarks made in early August, 2025, on Spoon Talk, a late-night radio and online television platform.
During the interview, Sen. Joseph accused former President George Weah and senior CDC members of corruption, and governance failure, claiming the CDC-led administration “robbed the country of millions of U.S. dollars through bribes collected from would-be investors whose projects never materialized.”
In one of his most shocking claims, Joseph said, he no longer sees any reason to remain with the CDC, alleging he was repeatedly marginalized, targeted, and ostracized even suggesting that some within the party went as far as plotting his death.
Joseph served as chairman of the Senate Executive Committee during the Weah regime (2018-2024).
Smith dismissed Joseph’s statements as not only reckless, but deeply ungrateful.
He argued that Joseph’s political rise and national status were made possible through the CDC.
Smith: “It is hypocritical for a man, who rose through the CDC to now condemn the very platform that gave him political relevance.”
