Sillah Wins LNBA’s VP Post

A renowned Liberian lawyer from the Heritage Partners and Associates, Counselor Abrahim B. Sillah, Sr., has been elected as Vice President of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA).

Cllr. Sillah was elected over the weekend during an extra ordinary assembly that LNBA hosted at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Monrovia.

He defeated his colleague, Counselor Lawrence Tomah with 213 votes to 64 votes.

Following his overwhelming victory and subsequent induction as LNBA VP, Cllr. Sillah extended profound gratitude to fellow lawyers for the confidence they reposed in him to assume the responsibility of the nation’s most outstanding legal body.

He promised to be hard-working in the execution of his duty as VP, working with all members of the leadership to ensure the success of LNBA.

Cllr. Sillah assured his colleagues of absolute accountability and collaboration.

He cautioned his contender, Cllr. Tomah to closely work with him, and the leadership for the betterment of the Bar.

The LNBA vice presidency became vacant following the resignation of the former president Cllr. Varmah, whose vice president, F. Juah Lawson, ascended to the presidency.

Madam Lawson ascendancy created the vacancy and subsequent election for the occupation of the esteemed portfolio within the Association.

Despite opposition from some members of the Association, who described the election as “unconstitutional,” the election of Cllr. Sillah has now completed the leadership of the LNBA.

It is expected that the newly elected VP will closely work with his colleagues to foster the interest of the Association. Several other members, who participated in the extra ordinary assembly, described the process as “free, fair and transparent.”

They stressed the need for absolutely unity amongst legal practitioners, especially lawyers.

They believe that unity is a critical tool for vibrancy within the institution and genuine success.
