Bong County Senator, Prince Kermue Moye, has ordered the return of the marketers to the old Market facility in Gbarnga. The move by Senator Moye was in response to a day-long protest by Bong County market women. The protest took place at the Jor River Bridge which obstructed the movement of drivers and motorcyclists from various destinations. The marketers were protesting over the lack of space at the newly dedicated Gbarnga General Market. During the protest, Jerry Garpue spoke on behalf of the aggrieved marketers. He revealed that they were instructed by the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) through its recently suspended Bong Branch President; Tumu Allien, and Gbarnga City Mayor, Garlai Varplah to purchase additional spaces at the new location. Mr. Garpue told journalists that despite these instructions, the market women who purchased their respective spaces and were awarded tickets have been unable to find spaces, leading to their decision to stage a protest. Meanwhile, responding to the concerns of the aggrieved marketers, Bong County Senator Moye ordered the marketers to return to their old locations, making available 100 bundles of zinc and Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300, 000.00) to reroof the structure of the old market building. Senator Moye also assured the market women of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s commitment to improving their lives. With Senator Moye’s order, the market women are now looking forward to returning to their familiar selling spaces at the old market facility. The Bong County Senator said the provision of the necessary resources for reroofing the building will ensure their comfort and safety while conducting their businesses. He stated that his decision highlights the importance of listening to the concerns of the constituents and taking decisive action to address their needs. He has at the same time assured their commitment to rescuing Liberia.
