Students and faculty at the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities (ACSC), University of Liberia, have hailed Reverend Tehneso Brohdonyen, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Grand Kru Technical College.
The students praised Rev. Brohdonyen for his “remarkable mentorship and leadership” during the College’s inaugural Student Association debate.
The debate, held on Friday, January 9, 2026, in the Thelma E. Duncan Sawyer Faculty Lounge, addressed the question: “Should Higher Education Learning be entirely free for all students, or be awarded by academic performance?”
While the discussion was held lively, it was Rev. Brohdonyen’s guidance and perspective that stood out.
“He reminded us that education is not just about access, but responsibility, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. His words encouraged us to think beyond our textbooks and consider the broader impact of higher education on society,” said a student participant.
Associate Professor Josephus Moses Gray, commended Rev. Brohdonyen’s role in fostering critical thinking.
“It is one thing to moderate a debate; it is another to inspire students to reflect deeply, and develop their own perspectives. Rev. Brohdonyen did both with excellence.”
Rev. Brohdonyen underscored the importance of mentorship in education. He engaged some of the students in meaningful discussions about higher education, because its challenges are essential to prepare them to lead with wisdom and integrity.”
In recognition of his contributions, Rev. Brohdonyen, along with other panelists, will be formally honored during the University of Liberia’s 105th graduation convocation for their support in nurturing critical thinking and academic growth.
“This acknowledgment reflects more than participation; it reflects the lasting impact of mentorship and leadership in shaping the minds of our students,” Gray added.
