Residents Made Homeless In Sasstown Daryokpo

A violent storm which swept across Grand Kru County, made dozens of residents homeless.

The General Town Chief of the affected communities, Andrew T. Togba said, the devastating storm that struck Sasstown Daryokpo on Wednesday, April 8 in the evening hours. It rendered residents homeless with debris in its path.

Chief Togba described the situation as “serious and heartbreaking,” noting that the storm left dozens of residents displaced after several homes were destroyed.

The heavy winds and rainfall swept across the community with force, tore-off rooftops, damaged personal belongings, and left many families without sheltered.

“The storm affected many houses and left our people in a very difficult condition. A huge tree also fell along the Sasstown Down-Beach and Daryokpo road, completely blocked the corridor and prevented vehicles from passages.”

Togba said, the blocked route has further worsened the hardship for residents, as movement between communities has been disrupted.

He has meanwhile, called on government and partners to urgently intervene with support for the affected families.
