Bong County District #4 Representative, Robert Flomo Womba, said for his constituent to add value to their educational system, he has summited to the plenary of the House An Act seeking to Repeal the 2015 Act incorporating the Bong County Technical College (BCTC) and establish in lieu thereof, the Bong County University (BCU).
Womba co-chairs the House’s Committee on Public Works.
“I hereby present compliments and write to present to the plenary of this august body for consideration and the passage of an Act seeking to repeal the 2015 Act incorporating the Bong County Technical College (BCTC) by establishing the Bong County University,” the lawmaker said in his submission.
According to him, he proposed the Act due to the county’s location, which attracts school-going youth from all walks of life.
Rep Womba said, the Act is congenially aligned with the President’s ARREST Agenda that incorporates education as a key component for the attainment of national and holistic development that affects every facet of our society.
“We will also continue to encourage everyone within the confine of our legislative prerogatives to provide the necessary instruments that directly affect our people and also serve as catalysts in meeting the development goals of the country through education.”
Rep. Womba also appealed to his colleagues to see reason and pass the bill into law; maintaining that if the bill is passed, the people of the county will know that their representation at the Capitol was never a waste.
Meanwhile, a motion was made by Montserrado District #4 Representatives Marcus Thomas, thus sending the bill to committees on education, judiciary, internal affairs and ways, means and finance to report within two weeks.
