An Act seeking to incorporate the Liberia National Dialysis Center (LNDC) and grant it a charter as an autonomous agency of government was on Thursday submitted to the plenary of the House of Representatives by Bong County District #4 lawmaker, Robert Flomo Womba. Through a communication, he pleaded with his colleagues to see reasons to make the LNDC an autonomous agency as to enable it function properly.
“I present compliments and herewith write to lay before the PLENARY of this AUGUST BODY for consideration and passage “An ACT TO INCORPORATE THE LIBERIA NATIONAL DIALYSIS CENTER (LNDC) AND GRANT IT A CHARTER AS AN AUTONOMOUS AGENCY OF THE GOVERNMENT OF LIBERIA – 2025,” Rep. Womba said.
He maintained that his reason of proposing the act is in regard to the growing need for affordable and holistic health care delivery systems in the country under an agency with absolute autonomy that will ensure timely and efficient service delivery to all especially people suffering from kidney problems.
He further noted that when passed, the Liberia National Dialysis Center (LNDC) ACT of 2025 shall be a specialized Autonomous Agency responsible to chiefly serve the purpose of providing renal replacement therapy/treatment to individuals who have compromised kidney function primarily due to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).
Among other core functions, Rep. Womba said the LNDC ACT of 2025 shall also seek to provide the following services; It will provide patient-centered care that includes monitoring their health status and managing complications related to kidney disease and dialysis according to the needs of each patient, which shall include scheduling treatment from Monday to Saturday (including holidays).
Meanwhile, the communication was sent to the Committee on Health, Ways Means and Finance and Judiciary to report within two weeks.
