Rep. Womba Praises Boakai’s Efforts

The chair of governing Unity Party (UP), has praised President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for the many achievements, including the Second MCC Compact.

Robert Flomo Womba is Bong County District #4 Representative.

He meanwhile, sent a congratulatory massage to the government of numerous achievements “just in short period of time.”

Womba described the MCC achievement as one of the series of landmark international and governance achievements under the leadership of Pres. Boakai.

He said the decision is another affirmation of country’s eligibility for a Second Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCC).

In a statement on Monday, December 22, Womba said the reaffirmation of the Second MCC Compact signals Liberia’s renewed commitment to good governance, economic growth, transparency, and inclusive national development.

He said the achievement has placed Liberia back on the path to transformational development financing for priority sectors, including infrastructure, energy, and human capital development.

He added: “The progress reflects Boakai administration’s determination to strengthen fiscal discipline, implement key reforms, and restore international confidence in the development agenda.”

Rep. Womba highlighted country’s numerous international achievements, including historic election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council with overwhelming votes of 181 out of 187 for the 2026–2027 term.

“All happening under Pres. Boakai’s stewardship after more than wasted decades.”

Womba said the country election underscored the international community trust in Liberia’s commitment to peace, security, and cooperative diplomacy, while elevating the it profiles on the global stage.

Womba further that Liberia’s successful passage of the 2025 MCC scorecard is a critical requirement for compact eligibility, and also described country’s strong performance on the scorecard as clear evidence of progress in governance, economic management, and policy reforms, as well as renewed confidence from international development partners.

“Since assuming office, Pres. Boakai has prioritized how the country image damaged for six years will be restored to global standing, strengthening strategic partnerships, and reactivating high-impact development cooperation mechanisms.”

Womba also cited government’s renewed engagement with the United States and other Western partners, the progress toward securing the Second MCC Compact, the signing of major sector-focused agreements, including an Energy Compact, and enhanced multilateral visibility through active participation in United Nations forums as great achievement that worth commendation.

Rep. Womba described Liberia’s election to the UNSC as one of the most consequential accomplishments of the administration, noting that it enables the country to contribute directly to decisions on international peace and security, conflict resolution, sanctions, and global stability.
