Bong County District #6 Representative, Moima Briggs Mensah, has launched the National Dialogue on Gender Quotas and Electoral Reform.

The two things aim to promote women’s empowerment and inclusive governance.

The initiative, held in Salala District, brought together local leaders, women’s groups, youth representatives, and international partners.

They discussed strategies to increase women’s participation in leadership and decision-making.

The event was supported by the governments of India, Brazil, and South Africa.

It was held in collaboration with UN Women and UN community health initiative.

The Town Hall consultative dialogue brought together 700 women from various clans in Salala District.

The women participated in the dialogue hosted by the office of Rep. Mensah, CHI and UN women.

They were encouraged to give their views surrounding empowerment.

Rep. Mensah spoke of the urgent need to address the underrepresentation of women in political and governance structures. She said, while women play a critical role in national development, they remain significantly outnumbered by men in leadership positions.

The dialogue focuses on introducing temporary special measures, including gender quotas, to ensure increased female representation in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
