The House of Representatives has received and is currently reviewing several budgetary proposals submitted by Nimba County Electoral District 5 Representative, Kortor S. Kwagrue, seeking national budget support for key health centers and energy priorities in the district.
During the 11th Day Sitting of the 3rd Quarter of the 2nd Session, Kwagrue submitted several communications requesting for consideration of allocations in the Fiscal Year 2026 National Budget for the following; Ganta Rehabilitation Hospital, Zoe-Geh Medical Center and electricity provision for communities in District #5, Nimba County.
Kwagrue maintained that the proposal submitted were not just ordinary but a request of the people of Nimba County District #5 who according to him are in urgent need for the strengthening of healthcare services and an improved energy access for residents.
“these investments would significantly enhance service delivery and community wellbeing, as we may know electricity is crucial to development and my district which is one of the highest contributor to the country’s budget envelope through coco and coffee production are lagging behind due to lack of electricity thus posing serious security threat to the lives of my people,” Rep. Kwagrue said.
Electricity means a lot to the development, and the lawmaker added that the people of Nimba County District #5 need electricity to also meet up with the modern present-day reality especially in the area of education, health and agriculture.
Meanwhile, following deliberations, plenary voted to forward the proposals to the Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance, especially as the national budget hearings are currently in progress. The committee will review the requests and incorporate its findings into ongoing budget discussions.
