The issue of audit at the House of Representatives has again been brought under spotlight by Bong County District #1 Representatives, Prince K Koinah, who has communicated with the Plenary of the House of Representatives to authorize the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a comprehensive audit on the House’s operations to ensure transparency and accountability.

In his communication presented Thursday during the 13th Day Sitting, Rep. Koinah craved the indulgence of the Plenary to authorize the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct said audit.

He maintained that to the best of his knowledge, the operations of the House have not been audited , stating that the situation cannot continue where the august body will continue to go unchecked.

“We are the custodians of the people’s trust and we must lead by example, if we wish to uphold the trust and confidence of the constituents we represent and I also believe that auditing this Honorable House will dispel any negative perceptions or misconceptions people may hold about us, thereby restoring credibility to this august body,” Rep Koinah said.

He further recommended that the Plenary authorizes the audit to ensure that House operates in accordance with the relevant rules, procedures, and laws effectively and efficiently, to evaluate the effectiveness of the risk management system, controls, and governance processes across departments and functions and also to take into consideration, the operations and administrative affairs of the 54th and 55th House of Representatives for the fiscal years: July 1, 2021 – December 31, 202,  January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022, January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023, January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, the communication was sent to the Committee on Public Accounts to report within two weeks.
