In the wake of economic constraints facing the country, Grand Bassa County District #5 Representative, Thomas A. Gosuah, has alarmed over some major challenges confronting his district #5 in Grand Bassa County. He named the lack of good health care, unfavorable learning conditions for the young generation and most of all, the deplorable road conditions across the district which he said is impeding the living conditions of the people. Speaking at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia, Rep. Gosuah said Grand Bassa County District #5 is one of the biggest districts within the county but still faces lot of challenges especially in the health, education and  deplorable road conditions, which he said need urgent attention, stating that if these challenges confronting the people are not addressed speedily, it could  undermine the human resource development of the county and the country at large. He noted that the issue of human resource development is one of the key factors to nation building; as such, there is a need that the government makes it one of the  key priorities, stressing that it was also against this backdrop that, since his election as Lawmakers of Grand Bassa County Electoral District #5, he has decided to make health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture key priorities  of his leadership to ensure that the people of Grand Bassa County District #5 get the best they deserve in order to improve their livelihood. Rep. Gosuah  disclosed that in district #5, there are only four government health care centers but mentioned that they are sometimes not  fully functional due to lack of essential medical materials and drugs, thus leaving the people with no alternative but to remain home and take treatment  rather than going to the health facilities, which according to him, is dangerous and is currently posing serious threats to the lives of the citizens especially  pregnant women across the district. Rep. Gosuah said his office is also striving to buttress central government efforts in the district, by providing chairs, blackboard, benches and uniforms which according to him, is under a program: ‘dress a student’  to ensure every child gets the best education deserved. According to him, though his office is faced with some financial challenges but maintained that the welfare of the people is his concern and promised to continue to work in the best interest of the people. Commenting on deplorable road conditions, Rep. Gosuah told the media that the issue of road is very essential, stating that no nation can survive without good paved roads, stressing that his district also contains the main corridor to the Southeast that gets very deplorable especially during the rainy season. He, at the same time, commended the Executive Branch for the farsightedness to consider the pavement of the road but cautioned the Minister of Public Works to further attach seriousness to the process for the betterment of the country.
