Montserrado County District 17 Representative, Bernard Blue Benson Jr., has formally submitted a communication to the House of Representatives, requesting consideration of a draft legislation seeking to establish the Right Bank Technical & Vocational Institute in Montserrado County.

In his communication to Plenary, Rep. Benson presented a draft bill titled “An Act to Establish the Right Bank Technical & Vocational Institute.”

The proposed legislation aims to create a technical and vocational training institution in one of the Right Bank Communities, with the goal of expanding access to practical education and workforce development opportunities for Liberian youth.

According to him, the establishment of the institute will focus on delivering quality technical and vocational education and training that equips young people and citizens with employable skills.

He noted that the initiative is intended to promote innovation, strengthen workforce readiness, and contribute meaningfully to national development through practical, career-oriented education.

Rep. Benson further said the proposed institution will help address the increasing demand for technical and vocational training opportunities, especially for young people seeking job-ready skills and entrepreneurship pathways.

He also informed his colleagues that the creation of the institute aligns with Liberia’s broader national efforts, aimed at strengthening human capacity development and improving productivity within the country’s labor force.

In view of the importance of the proposal, Rep. Benson respectfully requested that the bill be formally received by Plenary and subsequently forwarded to the appropriate committees of the House for detailed review and recommendations in keeping with the rules and procedures of the Legislature.

If enacted, the Right Bank Technical & Vocational Institute is expected to serve as a key center for skills development, providing practical training that could enhance employment prospects for many young Liberians while supporting the country’s economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Bill has been sent to the House Committees on Education, Youth and Sports, and Ways and Means, and Finance.
