Rep. Bernard Benson, known by his alias DJ Blue representing Montserrado County District #17, has joined the Majority Bloc of the Liberian legislature, prompting questions about the integrity of his previous political stance. Before making the move, Rep. Benson had been a vocal supporter of Speaker Fonati Koffa’s Bloc which he brands as the Integrity Bloc, a group committed to transparency, accountability, and upholding the rule of law in Liberia’s political system. In a post shared with his followers, he had declared, “I AM RESOLVED AND RESOLUTE. I’m on the Integrity Bloc. I’m with Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa to the very end.” Benson had also referenced the need for justice and reform, quoting various political leaders in his posts: “NO MAN IS ABOVE THE LAW AND NO MAN IS BELOW IT; NOR DO WE ASK ANY MAN’S PERMISSION TO OBEY IT,” he wrote. He echoed sentiments from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai (JNB), declaring, “No business as usual,” and from the Alternative National Congress (ABC), which emphasized, “We cannot do the same thing and expect different results.” These statements appeared to position him as an advocate for systemic change and the rule of law. However, the recent shift in his allegiance to the Majority Block has left many questioning whether Rep. Benson’s principles have been compromised. Critics are asking whether his earlier commitment to the Integrity Bloc was sincere or merely a political stance aimed at gaining public favor. Many now wonder if his move to the Majority Block signals a betrayal of the very values he once championed. The Majority Bloc, which holds significant influence in the current government, has been accused by some of enabling corruption and perpetuating the status quo, contrary to the reforms Benson previously supported. His decision to join this bloc has led to widespread speculation that he may have sacrificed his political integrity for the sake of political gain. By: WroinbeeEltonTiah / /Ablee – Jay TV
