Residents of Electoral District ##1 in Grand Kru County have demanded an immediate action from Representative Nathaniel Zoe Behway, Sr.
Some of them claimed that an ambulance, which he donated has remained parked at the Behwean Health Center.
Therefore, they have called for the removal of the worn-out vehicle, or else they would institute an unexpected action.
They described the vehicle as “non-functional” and that it has caused unnecessary obstruction at the already constrained health facility. Community members in the Trehn District told this newspaper that the ambulance, which was initially welcomed as a vital intervention to improve emergency health services in the district, has now become a source of frustration after reportedly being declared beyond repair. “We appreciated the lawmaker’s effort when the ambulance was brought here, but right now, it is no longer purposeful. It is taking up important space at the health center while patients and health workers continue to struggle with limited parking spaces,” one resident said. Some of them said, health authorities assessed the vehicle and informed the representative that the vehicle has become faulty, and no longer fit for service.
Despite this, no concrete steps have been taken either to repair or remove it from the facility.
The prolonged presence of the defected ambulance has sparked growing criticism from locals, who say officials must be held accountable, not only for donations made in the public glare, but also for ensuring that such interventions remain useful.
“This is about responsibility and accountability. If the ambulance cannot be repaired immediately, it should be removed from the health center, another community member retorted.
Some residents have gone further, suggesting that the vehicle be relocated to the lawmaker’s private residence in Gbarraway until arrangements are made to repair it.
They argued that scarce space at the health center should be reserved for operational medical services. The situation has renewed broader concerns about the condition of healthcare infrastructure and emergency response capacity in the county, where residents say, access to timely medical transportation remains a major challenge.
As public pressure mounts, residents have called on Rep. Behway and relevant health authorities to address the matter with immediacy.
