A shocking case of alleged child sexual abuse has rocked Bong County.

  1. Christian Kargbo, Jr., a student at the Bong County Technical College (BCTC), has been formally charged for allegedly raping a minor in Gbarnga.

The accused formerly worked with radio radio Kergheamahn 94.5 as community announcer in Ganta, Nimba county.

Known on-air as “MC ‘J’ Christ,” Christian faces prosecution under Chapter 14, Sub-chapter D, Section 14.70 of the Revised Penal Code.

The Liberia National Police (LNP), through its Women and Children Protection Section, confirmed that the charges were based on the survivor’s testimony, and medical evidence from Phebe Hospital, which reportedly corroborated sexual abuse.

Following the complaint, Christian was remanded to Gbarnga Central Prison in Jorpolu awaiting court trial.

The survivor, identified as “Jessica” to protect her identity, is a Kindergarten-2 pupil, who disclosed of enduring repeated assaults, and threats from the accused, who allegedly warned her that he would kill her if she reported him.

Medical examinations confirmed physical trauma, and infections consistent with the survival’s account.

Jessica, not her real name, now suffers severe physical and psychological distress, including stomach pains, involuntary bedwetting, and anxiety, according to her guardian, “Martu,” who described a child haunted by fear and trauma, crying alone, and worried about her future.

Since reporting the case, Martu claims she faced pressure from family, community leaders, and religious figures to drop the complaint.

She refused, insisting that “no compromise” will be accepted and that justice must prevail.

Despite denying the allegations, Christian faces a strong case.

Police investigators, including Fatu Kromah, and Crime Services Division Commander James Katoe, said the survivor’s testimony, and medical reports were sufficient to warrant formal charges.

This incident underscores persistent crisis of sexual violence, where survivors often face intimidation, stigma, and community pressure, leaving perpetrators free while victims suffer.
