Keynote speaker at the induction ceremony of the Maryland Journalist Association (MaJA), has called on journalists to embrace peace and unity as a pathway to sustainable development.

Pastor Henry N. Thompson,

gave the admonition to members of MaJa at the ceremony that marked the induction of officials.

Pastor Thompson spoke of peace among journalists as one of critical tools to the growth of Maryland County.

He noted that a united media can significantly influence positive changes.

“When journalists operate in peace and unity, development naturally follows. A divided media weakens society, but a united media strengthens democracy and progress.”

Thompson urged journalists to focus on positive and development-driven stories, serve as agents of peace, and work collectively to unite rather than divide society.

Thompson further highlighted the significance of local journalists in advancing development by holding policymakers accountable and consistently amplifying the voices and needs of the residents.

Meanwhile, MaJA President, Patrick Mensah, has expressed gratitude to journalists for the confidence reposed in him. Mensah pledged inclusive leadership.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me. Together, we will build a strong, united, and accountable journalists’ association.”
