Princess Zou Murderer Sentenced For Life

Criminal Court ‘B’ Judge Wesseh Alphonsus Wesseh, has handed down a guilty verdict against Bill Jallah, committing him to a life sentence. The verdict came about after Bill Jallah confessed and admitted in opened court that he stabbed his girlfriend Princess Zou seven times until she gave up the ghost. Judge Wesseh stated that defendant Jallah carried out the savage, depraved and deliberate act of stabbing Princess Zou multiple times with a weapon that was concealed under his long sleeve shirt, which led to her sudden death. Defendant Jallah, through his lawyers, earlier filed a six-count plea bargaining agreement, claiming responsibility for the death of Princess Zuo, whom he stabbed multiple times at a local entertainment center on Duport Road, Paynesville in December 2024.  The incident led to Zuo’s death. The prosecution indicted Bill Jallah for murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault, noting that he stabbed Princess and others, including Princess’ sister, who tried to intervene and prevent Jallah from the killing her sister. During proceedings in the August Term of court, lawyers representing defendant Jallah brought the court attention to the previously filed plea bargaining agreement, intended to mitigate Jallah’s sentencing. In response, the prosecution, led by Counselor Isaac Williams, accepted the plea-bargaining instrument, but said Jallah should first be arraigned to ascertain his plea. However, Judge Wesseh rejected the plea-bargaining application, stating that a trial court is not a party to such agreements, therefore, he ruled against defendant Jallah.  The judge further noted that murder is a capital offense, referencing Section 16.4 of the Civil Procedure Law, which allows the court to enter a not guilty plea on behalf of a defendant indicted for a capital offense, even if the defendant pleads guilty, to allow the prosecution to present evidence. The Judge subsequently read the indictment to the defendant, who initially entered a guilty plea. This plea was set aside, paving the way for the prosecution to present its evidence.  The trial meanwhile proceeded without jury, following the defense’s waiver of a jury trial. Under the Liberian law, murder carries life imprisonment or death penalty. Jallah, who was indicted in March 2025 on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and attempted murder, confessed before Judge Wesseh.  Prosecutors told the court that on December 21, 2024, defendant Bill Jallah stabbed Princess Zuo seven times with a concealed silver-bladed knife during a heated confrontation. In the process, Princess collapsed after losing blood, and was rushed to the ELWA Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The Police later recovered the weapon used to murder Princess on the crime scene. Bill Jallah is currently at the Monrovia Central Prison serving his life sentence.
