Controversial social media personality and self-proclaimed preacher, Nayaborqua Oldpa Yeazeahn, popularly known as “Prophet Key,” has been released from police custody under ‘intense political pressure from senior figures within the government.’
Prophet Key’s release follows his arrest over allegations of fraudulently obtaining and presenting a falsified voter identification card (ID card) to authorities at the National Elections Commission (NEC)—a charge that has ignited a wave of public debate and scrutiny on social media.
According to reliable sources, former Unity Party Secretary General Mo Ali played a pivotal role in securing the ‘Prophet’s’ freedom.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ali appeared at the police withholding facility, negotiated the ‘Prophet’s release to the extent that he defied the law when he personally escorted the ‘Prophet’ away in his private vehicle.
In a twist that deepens the political undertone of the saga, Vice President Jeremiah Koung, is also said to have been involved behind the scenes.
While the full extent of his intervention remains unclear, insiders suggest that the VP quiet influence was instrumental in brokering Prophet Key’s release.
Despite the severity of the allegations, Prophet Key was handed over to his legal team, accompanied by several unnamed senior government officials.
Authorities have not released a formal statement on the conditions surrounding the ‘Prophet’s release.
The controversial Prophet’s legal troubles stem from a complaint filed by the authorities at the NEC, which disqualified him from contesting the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial By-election.
The NEC cited discrepancies in his residency claims and academic credentials, prompting the Liberia National Police (LNP) to open a criminal investigation into alleged document of fraud.
The LNP has since summoned the ‘Prophet Key’ for questioning at its headquarters. He was expected to appear on Monday, April 14, to address concerns regarding the authenticity of the documents he submitted to the NEC.
“Our investigators are interested in determining whether the documents submitted were falsified, and if there’s a pattern of misrepresentation,” said a senior police source familiar with the investigation.
Prophet Key’s foray into formal politics has been met with both support and skepticism. Widely known for his provocative online broadcasts and scathing commentaries targeting high-profile figures.
As the debate over digital accountability and freedom of speech intensifies in Liberia, Prophet Key’s unfolding legal battle is expected to test the limits of political influence and legal integrity in the country.
Security is expected to be heightened at LNP Headquarters ahead of his anticipated appearance, amid concerns that both supporters and critics may stage demonstrations.
