Police Averts ‘Potential Protest’

The leadership of the Liberia National Police (LNP), has confirmed averting a potential protest in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Police said, officers swiftly intervened following a protest by nurses and support staff at Phebe Hospital near Gbarnga; successfully restored calm and ensured the situation remains fully under control.

The protest, which stemmed from concerns raised by health workers, who became aggrieved, prompted immediate engagement by the LNP to maintain public order and prevent any disruption to hospital services and community safety.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), has engaged in constructive discussions with the workers to reach an “amicable resolution to their grievances.”

LNP said, its officers remain committed to safeguarding lives and property, while encouraging peaceful dialogue as the appropriate means of addressing concerns.

Calm has been fully restored, and normal activities have resumed.
