The murder case that unsettled Chengbetee Town in Bolloh District, Grand Kru County is moving closer to the suspect being prosecuted.
The incident at the time, triggered public protests and widespread tension in the county.
Meanwhile, authorities at the Liberia National Police on Friday, January 9, confirmed the arrest of Suspect Bobbyson Bobby, while at-large in Nimba County.
Bobby has been formally investigated in connection with the death of a woman identified only as Rose, whose body was discovered in a bush near a road in December, last year in Grand Kru County.
The arrest of Bobby has brought a measure of relief to residents of Chengbetee Town and surrounding communities, who had earlier staged protests demanding answers and justice for the deceased.
Police say preliminary findings from their investigation indicate that suspect Bobby has admitted involvement in the incident that led to the woman’s death.
Authorities disclosed that the incident occurred on December 15, 2025, following an encounter between suspect Bobby and the deceased along the route to the suspect’s place of work in the bush.
According to police sources, circumstances surrounding the encounter later resulted in the death of the woman, after which the suspect allegedly removed the body from the crime scene, and concealed it in a nearby bush path.
Investigators further revealed that having committed the crime, Bobby fled the area, and escaped to Nimba County, where he later reported himself to police assigned in the county.
He was subsequently returned to Grand Kru County to face investigation in the jurisdiction where the alleged crime was committed.
Based on the outcome of the investigation, police authorities have charged Bobby with murder in keeping with Section 14.1 of the New Penal Code of Liberia, and forwarded him to court for trial.
Police have assured the public that the rule of law will prevail, and that the judicial process, will be allowed to take course.
