Police Arrests Arson Suspect At Logoatuo

The leadership of the Liberia National Police (LNP) have confirmed the arrest of suspect Amos K. Koffa at the Logoatuo border with La CÔTE D’IVOIRE in Nimba County.

Amos was previously charged in absentia in connection with the December 18, 2024, Capitol Building Arson Case.

He formerly served as maintenance department supervisor at the Capitol Building, but reportedly fled the country on April 6, 2025, under the alias “Roland King.”

His escape, according to LNP’s release, followed allegations that linked him to the arson incident, in which other suspects allegedly aided him.

“Through coordinated efforts with the Ghana Police Service, and INTERPOL, the LNP obtained intelligence indicating that Amos had moved to Ghana. He was placed on the international watch list. In July, 2025, narrowly evaded arrest during a joint security operation,” the release said.

It added: “Following sustained surveillance and collaboration with regional security partners, Amos was finally apprehended on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Loguatuo Border in Nimba County during a coordinated operation led by joint security forces.”

Amos, the release said, is currently in LNP custody undergoing investigation at the police headquarters in Monrovia.

The suspect will be sent to court at the right time to face formal legal proceedings.

The LNP meanwhile, reaffirms its commitment to justice and will ensure that all individuals implicated in this case are held accountable under the law.
