Poetic Trumpet

I'm Used to It

I no longer feel the pain.

I no longer mourn every loss or gain.

I no longer sit and worry.

I have no time to tell everyone I’m sorry.

I’m simply used to the way life goes.

I care less who steps on my toes.

I care less who turns into my foe.

I’m simply used to the way it all goes,

And everything now feels normal.

I no longer feel disappointed when I’m disappointed.

I no longer feel despised when I’m despised.

I no longer feel neglected when I’m neglected.

I no longer feel ostracized when I’m ostracized.

I no longer feel frustrated when I’m frustrated.

I no longer feel downplayed when I’m downplayed.

I’m used to the lies that linger everywhere.

I’m used to the deception that swirls through the air.

I’m used to the malice that dwells in the human heart.

I’m used to the envy that tears people apart.

I’m used to a love that too often fades away.

I’m used to the evil that lives in the heart of man.

I’m used to a world ruled by the devil.

Nothing surprises me anymore,

For I’m used to it.
