Poetic Trumpet

Call Me Mr. Freeman

You can call me Mr. Freeman

Feel free to call me Mr. Freeman

I really enjoy being called Mr. Freeman

It hurts me not to hear the name Mr. Freeman

Long ago I was proudly named Mr. Freeman

I deserve no slavery; call me Mr. Freeman

I freely write my poems; call me Mr. Freeman

I freely flow with proverbs; call me Mr.Freeman

I live beneath my own roof; I’m Mr.Freeman

I freely bow before my Maker;  I’m  Mr. Freeman

I can’t give in to slavery;  call me  Mr. Freeman

I  stand by my beliefs; call me  Mr. Freeman

I follow the voice of my soul; I’m Mr. Freeman

I’m  Freeman in taking a poetic position

I’m  Freeman in making my own decision

I’m  Freeman in beating my own drum

I’m  Freeman in singing my own song

I’m  Freeman in making my own choice

I’m  Freeman in choosing my own peers

I’m  Freeman in steering my life’s direction

I’m  Freeman in guarding my own conscience

I’m Freeman in speaking the honest truth

I’m  Freeman in defending  dreams of youth

I’m Freeman in standing against oppression

I’m  Freeman in rejecting acts of corruption

No chain can easily silence my inner voice

No fear can easily force me to lose my choice

No storm can easily bury my assigned destiny

For freedom itself naturally lives inside me

Call me Mr. Freeman when I rise and fall

Call me Mr. Freeman as I rise & stand tall

Whether in hardship or victory’s gleam

I shall remain Mr. Freeman with a dream

For freedom is the clean air I breathe

Freedom is the soil beneath my feet

Freedom is the song within my soul

And with freedom, I shall remain whole

You’ve all rights to call me Mr  Freeman
