Over twenty young people have completed a two- day intensive digital Security Awareness Training in Monrovia.
The two- day intensive and technical training brought together participants from youth- led organizations, civil society and the media to help enhance their skills in basic fundamental aspects of digital security threats as well as other related techniques among others.
Speaking to reporters following the end of the second batch of training, the Administrative Coordinator of the Monrovia Business School, Samuel James Kpartor, noted that innovation and creativity among the young people in the digital space is needed more than ever before.
He underscored the imperative need for effective capacity development among the young people.
According to him, as the world is rapidly evolving especially in the digital space, the need for digital security awareness is key.
“The threat of evolution of artificial intelligence is becoming more prevalent and it is time to get more prepared to work in addressing it by building our young people capacity,” he emphasized.
According to him, for Liberia to face such Cyber Security threat which many people are not knowledgeable about, it is paramount to build the skills of Liberians especially in digital security training and awareness, something he noted, the Monrovia Business School has embarked upon.
“We at MBS are always excited and thrilled to provide essential knowledge to our young people including the general population of the country and we remain committed to such,” he added.
The Monrovia Business School Administrative Coordinator who commended the young people for their active participations and engagements during the training, also encouraged them to utilize the training for the benefit of the larger society.
Also speaking at the end of the training was the President of the Federation of Liberian Youth, Banica Elliott, who appreciated the Monrovia Business School for helping to build the capacity of the young people especially in digital security awareness.
According to her, the training is timely and meaningful for the future leaders of Liberia.
Ms. Elliott at the same time called on the young people to use the skills given them to improve their daily operations.
“The act of acquiring these skills is key and it will prepare you for the future, ” the FLY President further told her members.
