President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has disclosed the creation of 70,000 jobs across all sectors.
Boakai made the disclosure while delivering his 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, January 25, 2026, on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.
He said, job creation remains the top priority for his administration, “our job creation strategy has focused on addressing bending and structural constrains to growth, including investment in roads energy and other infrastructure.
“We increased jobs and have also made significant progress in agriculture, food security and jobs creation,” the President reported.
“I am pleased to inform you that our country is in a better state than it was a year ago.”
“Thanks to members of the Legislature for collaboratively passing crucial bills, including the Local Government Act, the Liberia National Tourism Act, Nine Financing Agreements between Liberia and bilateral counterparts, and the Amended Mineral Agreement with Arcelor-Mittal Liberia.
Boakai reported that in 2026, “we will establish bills to establish the National Road Authority, Revised structure of the University of Liberia, amended law to restructure the Ministry of Finance.”
He also reported that the widely-discussed 285 yellow machines in ship heading to Liberia; fuel oil has stabilized at US$4 per gallon, and that businesses that exploit consumers will be held accountable.
In an effort to empower the young people, Boakai announced the construction of two sports academies in Bong and Montserrado counties.
“We are pleased to announce that my government is constructing the Mano River Presidential Center in Foya, Lofa County. This is owned by the government.”
According to Boakai, over the past years, the government has deliberately built on the progress already made.
The President meanwhile, announced a decision to relocate the Palm Grove Cometary where leaders and other Liberians were buried.
