Orange Liberia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to serve as the official sponsor of the 2025-2026 National County Sports Meet.
The event is a national sporting tradition that unites all Liberians in the counties, celebrates talents, and strengthens community pride.
The competition is expected to commence on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Happer City, Maryland County, with the host taken on Grand Kru County in the day’s opening encounter in Group ‘A’.
Orange Communication Manager Mabel Mason said, the institution is once again demonstrating its unwavering commitment to youth development and national progress through a sponsorship package valued at over US$91,000 both in cash and kind.
Ms. Mason said that the investment reflects not only Orange Liberia, belief in the power of sports to transform lives, but its dedication to ensure that every young Liberian has the opportunity to showcase their skills on the national stage.
She said the signing ceremony is not just a formality, rather it is a reaffirmation of Orange Liberia role as a proud partner that resonates with culture and national interest.
“We believe in Liberia’s potential in the strength of our young athletes. This is in the unifying power of this historic competition. Thank you for joining us as we begin another chapter of partnership, progress, and passion for Liberian sports.”
Orange Liberia Legal and Regulatory Director, Councilor Supu Cole, described the National County Sports Meet as one activity that has become the biggest sporting fiesta in the country as compare to any other competitions. This, Orange is proud to be the official sponsor of the tournament this year.
Cllr. Cole said, both the institutions have over the years built a relationship based on mutual respect, and understanding as it relates to supporting all of the Ministry’s activities, whether local or international.
He said the initiative is something that Orange Liberia has taken over as a means of giving back to society, and Liberians in general, to show that the institution is not only involve into the business of telecommunication, but supports and showcases Liberians talents as well.
“Orange Liberia has taken the initiative to sponsor the 2025/26 National County Sports Meet. We want to admonish the Ministry that Orange should be considered as a partner, and should not be distracted by other offers. No matter the lucrative offers that will be made in the future, consider Orange as your partner that will never let you down.”
Youth and Sports Deputy Minister for Administration, Henry B. Yonton, Jr. commended Orange Liberia for the sponsorship, stating: “Both institutions have been in the partnership for several years, and they trust that Orange will fulfill its portion of the MoU.
On behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, we have come again to say thank you. We also want to assure you that the Minister will live up to his own responsibilities that are stated in the document.”
Yonton said, Orange Liberia has not only been involved into sports, but several other activities.
He added: “We want to appreciate Orange for changing the lives of Liberians through the support to our annual sporting activities. We know that we are partners, and so, we want to assure you that it will remain that way. We will always continue to collaborate with you, because we know that this is not the end of the road.”
