Nyanti Leads ‘Historic’ Davos Engagement

Liberia is marking a major diplomatic and economic milestone as Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti leads the country’s first-ever official participation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, taking place from January 19 to 23. The landmark appearance, according to a release, places Liberia among the world’s most influential economic and political actors, and signals a renewed push by the government to position the country as an emerging destination for investment, partnership, and global cooperation. Liberia’s entry into the prestigious Davos forum follows months of sustained, high-level engagement spearheaded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Officials say the effort reflects a deliberate strategy to reintroduce Liberia to global decision-makers and investors at a time when countries are seeking resilient and inclusive growth pathways amid global uncertainty. Madam Nyanti, who headed the delegation, was joined by Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and National Investment Commission Chairman Jeff Blibo. This demonstrates a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to economic diplomacy anchored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A centerpiece of Liberia’s Davos engagement will be an invitation-only roundtable discussion titled: “The Future of Liberia: Global Partnerships and Economic Diplomacy.”

It was scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, at the Financial Times House (Hotel Parsenn).

Sponsored by Foreign Policy Magazine and partners, the session will convene global investors, multinational executives, and senior leaders from development finance institutions.

Mr. Ngafuan is expected to deliver the keynote address, outlining Liberia’s transition toward investment readiness and spotlighting emerging opportunities across priority sectors.

Discussions, according to the release, will also explore the broader implications of Liberia’s recent assumption of a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, highlighting the country’s expanding role in regional stability and international cooperation.

The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, held under the theme: “A Spirit of Dialogue,” brings together nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries, including heads of state, cabinet ministers, and chief executives of leading global corporations.

Secured and led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the engagement underscores Liberia’s commitment to proactive global diplomacy, investor confidence-building, and a unified national strategy to advance inclusive growth and long-term development.

As Liberia takes its seat at one of the world’s most influential economic tables, the message from Davos is clear: the country is ready to engage, to partner, and to shape its future within the global economy.
