Authorities at the National Transit Authority (NTA), have taken another step to transform public transportation system.

This includes the arrival of 20 brand-new, fully air-conditioned 18-seater mini-buses.

The vehicles were delivered under NTA’s ongoing procurement partnership with ABK Motors Incorporated, in line with government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

Managing Director Edmond Forh, told journalists that the latest delivery represents the second phase of a nationwide effort to modernize and strengthen public transport services.

Forh said the initiative is designed to expand access, improve comfort, and enhance reliability for commuters. The newly acquired mini-buses are expected to significantly improve mobility for citizens, particularly those living in remote and underserved communities along feeder roads.

By providing a dependable and affordable alternative to existing charter services, the buses will help ease travel challenges and reduce transportation costs for commuters.

This development forms part of a broader rollout of 60 new vehicles under the ABK Motors agreement. The first batch of 35 high-capacity, 62-seater mass transit buses is already operational nationwide, while five cargo trucks are expected to arrive shortly to support logistics and the movement of goods. NTA management described the arrival of the second batch as a milestone in expanding the mass transit network.

In addition to enhancing passenger services, the forthcoming cargo trucks will strengthen NTA’s capacity to transport materials and support economic activities.

The acquisition of 35 mass transit buses, 20 mini-buses, and five cargo trucks underscored government’s strong commitment to improve transportation infrastructure, and ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective public transit for citizens and foreign residents.

With these investments, NTA reaffirms its dedication to deliver affordable, reliable and efficient transportation services to meet the growing mobility needs, and to support inclusive national development.
