Matthew David, a resident of Roman Town in Electoral District #5, Bong County, has publicly condemned Senator Johnny K. Kpehe Sr. over his so-called “White Rice Project,” calling it a political bluff that has left citizens frustrated and misled nearly two years after the 2023 general elections.
“During the campaign, Senator Kpehe claimed he owned a large rice farm that would feed local communities, create jobs, and make him the first Liberian to export rice to the United States”, Mr. David noted.
David explained that these promises contributed to a historic landslide victory, with Kpehe securing over seventy-seven thousand (77,000) votes — the largest in Bong County’s political history.
Despite this overwhelming mandate, citizens say there is no evidence of the promised farm, and its location remains unknown. Mr. David and others are demanding that the senator reveal the venue of the rice farm and provide proof of its existence and operations.
The Roman Town resident further argued that the White Rice Project was a campaign strategy designed to attract votes rather than a genuine effort to develop agriculture. The lack of transparency and accountability has intensified public anger, with many now calling the project a symbol of political deception.
Mr. David warned that unless Senator Kpehe comes forward with tangible proof and updates on the project, public trust in his leadership will continue to erode.
What was once presented as a bold agricultural initiative has now become a glaring example of broken promises and empty political rhetoric in Bong County.
