Nimba County Administration has provided logistical support to the 19 district commissioners and presented some an unspecified amount of cash appreciating them. Others benefited were the town chiefs.
The initiative, led by the county superintendent Kuo Meapeh Gono, oversaw the distribution of motorcycles and fuel support to the district commissioners to enable them effectively carry out their administrative duties in the rural and hard-to-reach areas.
At the handover ceremony, Supt. Gono highlighted the importance of decentralizing government functions and empowering local leaders.
“By providing mobility for our district commissioners, we are making governance more accessible and responsive. This is a step toward more efficient service delivery and stronger engagement with our people,” Madam Gono told the elated local leaders.
In addition to the mobility support to the district commissioners, many of the town chiefs received tokens of appreciation (unspecified amount of cash) in “recognition for your continued role in maintaining peace, resolving disputes and supporting community developments.”
The tokens, which included essential supplies and small financial stipends, were described as “symbolic gestures of gratitude” from the county leadership.
The local leaders welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for the recognition and support.
“This gesture shows that our efforts are seen and valued,” each of the speakers commended Madam Gono.
Madam Kemah Kouh, head of the commissioner’s Council of Nimba County, extended gratitude to the county administration for the logistical support.
She spoke of the locals’ commitment to work with the county administration for the good of the people.
The administration reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration between formal and traditional leadership structures to promote peace, development agendas and accountability at all levels of local governance.
The logistical support and token to commissioners and Town Chiefs are part of the US$4.2 million 2025 Nimba Development Resolution.
