“Nimba County Made History”

- Gongloe Recalled

Counselor Tiawon Saye Gongloe, former presidential aspirant, said history was made in Nimba County over the weekend as they welcomed Chief Justice, Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay at a well-organized thanksgiving and honoring reception in Ganta, the commercial hub of the county.

Gongloe, also referred to as TSG by his admirers, noted that the people of Nimba, together with friends from all over the country, gathered in their thousands to celebrate the elevation of His Honor Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay as the country 27th Chief Justice.

“Although, the county has produced two chief justices, the program over the weekend for Justice Gbeisay was the first of its kind, adding that the outpouring of joys and supports were overwhelming, with members of the judiciary past and present, the Liberian National Bar Association led by President Bormor Varmah, law students, legislators, officials of the Executive Branch, and ordinary citizens all came together to honor this son of Nimba and servant of Liberia.”

According to Gongloe, he has known Gbeisay covering over 50 years,” I had the privilege of working with him years ago when he served as a prosecutorial consultant under the Senior Executive Service of UNDP, during my tenure as Solicitor General. From that experience, I can personally attest to his dedication and his capacity for hard work.”

Cllr. Gongloe said through the program, he reflected on the fact that God is wonderful, “because the Chief Justice father, Henry Quiqui, popularly known then as JP Quiqui, was a well-respected, feared, and very powerful Justice of the Peace in Ganta in the 1970s. Later, he became an Associate Magistrate before his death.

He said JP Quiqui was the judge of the court of the first instance, and he, the son, is now the head of the highest court of the land.

“It is often said, what is for you shall see your face,” and so, God’s time is the best, for Justice Gbeisay,” Cllr. Gongloe narrated to the delight of the teaming crowd.

In his words of appreciation, Chief Justice Gbeisay, promised to labor tirelessly for the transformation of the judiciary, with a vision of restoring public confidence and rooting out corruption.
