New License Plates Launched

The Ministry of Transport (MoT), on Monday, February 2, 2026, officially launched a new set of license plates for vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles (kekeh).

‎According to the Ministry, the new license plates feature “advanced security elements” and a classification system for vehicles, and motorcycles. The plates take immediate effect, except for those whose current plates have not yet expired, a release said.

The plates are also printed in specific colors to facilitate easier verification.

‎At the launch, Deputy Transport Minister for Land, Rudolph G. Natt, Jr., said the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s policy of renewing license plates every five years.

Natt added that the new plates will enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve public safety, boost revenue generation, and promote transparency and accountability.

‎Transport Minister Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, also said the initiative is part of government’s broader efforts to revitalize the transport sector, while contributing significantly to national budget revenue.

‎‎Members of partnered government agencies, private institutions, and stakeholders in the transport sector welcomed the new license plates, stressing the importance of improved service delivery and maintaining transparency in the sector.
