The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) in collaboration with the European Union (EU) delegation to Liberia have committed to improve the Collaborative Management Association (CMA).
The collaboration is an effort to protect the country’s fisheries resources on the larger scale, a release has said.
The disclosure was made at the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) CMA induction ceremony under its Communities for Fisheries Project, based in Marshall City, Margibi County.
At the ceremony, NaFAA Associate Director for Marine and Environment, Anthony Yokie, said: “CMA is responsible for creating rules and regulations that govern fishing activities, including catch limits, gear restrictions, and protected species regulations.”
The Program Officer of the EU delegation, Maria Winnubst, said the agency remains committed to supporting and strengthening CMA activities in the country.
“The CMA is created to safeguard fisheries, ensuring the resource is managed responsibly and sustainably for the good of everyone,” said a NaFAA release, issued Friday, May 16, 2025. Source: LINA
