Montserrado County District #3 Representative, Sumo Mulbah, has resigned from the opposition All-Liberia Party (ALP).

Mulbah has meanwhile, joined the governing Unity Party (UP), citing infrastructure development.

Mulbah said his decision to join UP stems from his commitment to the well-being of the Liberian people. “My allegiance is with nation, rather than a political tribal entrenched faction.”

In his statement, Mulbah expressed a desire for good governance, and a belief in leadership that actively combats corruption and prioritizes justice.

He extolled government for initiatives that improve citizens’ lives, including decrease in prices of basic commodities, and ongoing infrastructure projects.

Mulbah’s statement reflects growing expectations among the populace for transparency and accountability from their leaders.

The statement strikes a careful balance of admiration for his former party, the ALP, while simultaneously distancing himself from it.

He insists that governance should not be about “jealousy or envy,” but rather collaboration and communication.

He said his decision is rooted in the interests of the country.

As citizens look to their leaders for guidance, the call for integrity and accountability becomes increasingly urgent with the 2029 elections approaches.
